What are fats?

Fats are like carbohydrates our energy suppliers. In diets are several types of fats.

We distinguish 4 types of fats: saturated fat, mono-unsaturated fat, poly-unsaturated fat and cholesterol. One type is better for health than others.

Saturated fat:
Saturated fats are usually solid at room temperature and are of animal origin (whole milk products, cheese, butter, eggs, red meat and derivatives). We think saturated fats in both sweet and savory products.

Freshwater products: Pastry, biscuits, chocolate, ice cream, pastry, full dairy products, ...

Salted products: TV-sausage, cheese, meat, chips ...

A balanced diet contains a minimum amount of these fats because they are the "bad" cholesterol boost. Therefore they are also bad fats.

Single unsaturated fats:
Single unsaturated fats are, for example, in olive oil, arachide oil, rapeseed oil, vegetable oil, margarines and some fruit (nuts). Daily consumption will decrease the bad cholesterol. That is why they are good fats.

The opinion of nutritionists to bad fats instead of choosing good fats. This may for example by using additional fine olive oil of the first cold pressing in a vinaigrette. Those who don't like the taste of olive oil, can also opt for arachide oil or, even better, for rapeseed oil. The latter should not be heated! Visible fats should existence as far as possible from monounsaturated fat.

Multiple unsaturated fats:
Multiple unsaturated fats are in sunflower oil, maize oil, soybean oil, nut, Oil of grape pips, oily fish, minarines and special margarines. These fats are essential to proper functioning of our body.

That is why they are good fats. Moreover, they have a positive effect on the bad cholesterol.

Multiple unsaturated fats are good fats also because they provide essential fatty acids that humans can not synthesize from other components. Because these oils highly sensitive to light, heat and oxygen, they are only used for the taste of food and not to prepare food (olive oil does).

Cholesterol:
Cholesterol is another kind of fat that is important for humans. The body itself provides the production and also provides a certain amount of nutrition. Animal nutrition is the only source of cholesterol which consumers take too much.

Therefore it is better to choose more legumes, such as beans, lentils etc, and also skimmed products of animal origin such as yogurt, cheese, lean meat.
